Vocabulary Words

1a. Focal point is the main or important part in the artwork.  Three ways to achieve it is by the color choices, the shapes and the size.

b. Three types of rhythm is the shapes that can be used, the contrast in the art and repetition.

c. Kinesthetic Rhythm is when all five of your senses are being use when seeing the artwork.

d. A line is a continuous mark that can define space and make a pattern or an outline to create movement or texture.

e. Contour is a line that creates an outline. It’s the outer edges of the outline.

f. Gesture is a movement that helps create or capture an action that’s being made by someone or something.

g. Implied Lines is when the pencil is somewhat lifted of the paper but continues to go in the intended direction and than goes back to the regular lines.

h. Explicit Lines are the hard or dark lines in the artwork.

i.Lost and Found Lines are lines that integrate shapes with the background.

j. Lines as Direction are vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines.

k. Physic Line is produced by the viewer as a response to the subjects of an image.

l. Line as texture and pattern are lines that are put together to create an image rather it’s put together closely or far apart.
