Akira Yamaguchi Hmwk

Akira Yamaguchi is a Japanese artist who has made a name for himself in painting beautiful classical Japanese masters. As you can see, he uses many lines in his pieces from vertical to horizontal to diagonal to create a lot of different images all in one. He also seems to work with contour lines and shades or colors in the other areas in his pieces. He uses the lines to create texture by putting some lines close and other far apart. His focal point in the first piece is the horse and it's body. It's cool how the horse goes from its regular body and than turns in to what looks like a motorcycle which to me seems like he trying to show us the speed of the horse. In the second picture it looks like a miniature world in a way. You can see he he puts the building into perspective and than as he goes up he starts creating clouds, roads, people, and other things.

In both pictures you can see implied lines, where a line is at first dark but than starts to get lighter to the point where it doesn't look like it is there anymore than picks back up to a explicit line. I would say that this could be a gesture drawing especially the first picture with the horse. I really like his work and think its really interesting and unique. I also like how you can see the lines very well, this would probably be a good example of a contour line drawing.
